Angloteka Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-08-31

1. Who we are

Angloteka (formerly Англотека, "the app") is provided by Dmitrii Tiurnikov, Giorgi Brtskinvale Street 105-107, Batumi 6010, Georgia, contact privacy@angloteka.app.

By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Who may use the app

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to accept these terms and to make purchases. The app is intended for adults; a child may use it alongside a parent, but the account holder and purchaser is the adult.

3. What the app does

The app recognises English words in a photo you provide — a dictionary page, a word list, a screenshot, handwritten notes, or physical flashcards — and turns them into cards for study.

Recognition uses an automated service and is not guaranteed to be accurate. You are shown every recognised word before it is saved, and you can edit or delete any of it. Do not rely on the app as a sole source of linguistic accuracy.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to the photos you provide. You grant us only the limited right to process a photo for the purpose of recognising words in it, for the duration of that processing. We do not store photos on our servers and do not use them for any other purpose. The recognition provider, Anthropic PBC, deletes them within 30 days and is contractually barred from training models on them; see the Privacy Policy for the exceptions.

You confirm that you have the right to photograph and upload the material you submit. Do not submit material whose photographing or processing would infringe someone else's rights, and do not submit material that is unlawful, hateful, or sexually explicit. You are responsible for the content of what you photograph; we are not. The app makes a best effort to skip recognising profane or otherwise inappropriate words rather than turning them into cards, but this is not guaranteed, and recognition is not a moderation service.

5. Free use and subscription

The app is free to use up to 20 cards. Beyond that, an auto-renewable monthly subscription removes the card limit.

Cards you write yourself do not count towards that limit: you can add them without a subscription and without any cap, and they stay visible even after a subscription ends. The limit exists to cover the cost of recognising photos, and a card you type needs no recognition.

Photo recognition has its own separate allowance, counted apart from the card limit: each photo submitted for recognition uses one unit of it, and the allowance renews over a rolling period. The subscription raises this allowance; it does not remove it. The limits that apply to you, and how much of them you have used, are shown in the app under Settings → Access. We may adjust these limits; the figures shown in the app are always the ones in force.

The subscription renews automatically every month until cancelled. The price is shown before purchase.

There are two ways to subscribe, and the way you choose determines who takes the payment, how you cancel, and who handles refunds.

Purchase in the app for iPhone and iPad. Payment is taken by Apple under Apple's terms. You can cancel at any time in your device settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. The price is shown in the App Store in your local currency.

Purchase on the website. Payment is taken by Dodo Payments acting as the seller and authorised reseller (merchant of record): it is that company, not us, that enters into the sale with you, issues the invoice and remits applicable taxes. The Dodo Payments group comprises Dodo Payments Inc., Dodope Payments Limited and Sarvapanchhi Technologies Private Limited. On your bank statement the charge appears as DODOPAY_ANGLOTEKA. The app itself remains ours: the right to use it is granted to you by us.

The product price is USD 2.99 per month, with tax included in it rather than added on top. The payment may be converted into your own currency; the resulting amount is shown on the checkout page before you confirm, and that is the amount you confirm.

To cancel, use the subscription portal yourself: customer.dodopayments.com — enter the email the purchase was made with and sign in via the link you receive. You can cancel either at the end of the paid period (access continues until then) or immediately. You can also simply write to us and we will cancel for you.

The subscription portal is titled “Rada” — a trading name of the same seller that publishes Angloteka. We say so in advance so that an unfamiliar name does not look like someone else’s site.

If the subscription ends, your cards and learning progress are never deleted: the 20 most recent recognised cards remain visible and usable (and every card you wrote yourself, without exception), the rest are hidden and reappear in full when the subscription is renewed. Adding new cards beyond the free limit requires an active subscription.

Refunds depend on where the purchase was made. For a purchase in the app, refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — request them through your Apple account. For a purchase on the website, the refund is carried out by Dodo Payments as the seller, at our instruction or on your request; the terms and the procedure are set out in our Refund Policy. Restoring a purchase made in the app is available in the app's settings.

Prices may change; a change never affects a billing period already paid for. Subscribers are notified before an increase applies: App Store customers by Apple, website customers by us, by email.

6. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to access the recognition service other than through the app, circumvent usage limits, reverse engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it, or use the service in a way that disrupts it for others.

We may limit or suspend access where use appears automated or abusive.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Recognition requires an internet connection and a working third-party service; the rest of the app — studying saved cards — works offline.

We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, cards already saved on your device remain there.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on the accuracy of recognition. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death, personal injury, or fraud.

If you are a consumer, you keep all rights granted by mandatory consumer protection law in your country; nothing in these terms reduces them.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end your access if you materially breach these terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Georgia. If you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA or the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your country of residence, and mandatory consumer rules of that country continue to apply.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above. Continued use after a change means acceptance.
